What is 10DLC?
10DLC stands for “10-digit Long Code”. The following MNOs (mobile network operators) have banded together to create a database of businesses and real people that send text messages. Everything that’s left is categorized as unsolicited/spam, and offenders can be heavily fined.
How much are the fines?
The carriers above can impose fines up to $10,000 per violation for the following reasons:
- Unsolicitied content or spam
- Phishing
- SHAFT violations (Sex, hate, Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco)
Fines for 10DLC evasion can reach $1,000 per violation. Evasion includes spreading the same unsolicited message across multiple numbers, or recycling numbers to keep your violation footprint minimized from a single number.
